Blogging is a tool used by many, and the number of companies/individuals blogging has increased greatly within the past few years. Why? The simple answer, it's good for business. According to Wikipedia, 61% of the people in the Americas use the Internet and 39% of the people in the world use it (Ref: Wikipedia). That's astounding considering there are over 7 billion people in the world.
So with over half of Americans using the Internet, having a presence on the web is a must if you want your business to succeed. Studies have shown that small businesses that blog generate 126% more leads over those who don't (Ref: HubSpot via ThinkCreative). Now we realize just telling you that blogging can help your business isn't enough for most of you to start blogging, which is why we have come up with this simple list of convincing reasons to start blogging.
1. Blogging helps your SEO
Blogging regularly means fresh, up-to-date content for your website. This is what Google lives for. Having regular blog posts means Google bots (or spiders) will start to crawl your website more often, letting your website get indexed regularly to show your up-to-date and relevant content.
2. Blogging gives your business a voice
Giving your business a voice helps it establish a human-like presence with visitors. Blogging, whether it's about current events or some other aspects relevant to your business, gives users the sense that you have an opinion and are indeed not a robot. Having an opinion though, can make or break you and your business, so be careful not to get religion or politics involved; otherwise you'll be heading into dangerous waters.
3. Blogging drives traffic
Besides the fact that it can help drive traffic via search engines, blogging can help drive traffic via social media as well. It's not a bad idea to ask questions or post giveaways on social media (heck, everybody likes that) but if that's all your social media channels are doing then it can get tiring for your followers.

Most of the time when users are searching for something, they are searching for information. That may include tutorials or general information on a certain topic. This is your chance to share that knowledge of yours and help other people out. You can post about the topics related to your business and show visitors your true knowledge on the subject, this can help drive recurring traffic back to your website and even spark a lead (for a sale).
